Do I need to install additional cooling towers for industrial chillers?

⚪ Exterior Inspection
Regularly inspect the chiller’s enclosure to ensure that there is no visible mechanical damage, corrosion or deformation. If any damage is found on the shell, it should be repaired in time to prevent moisture or dust from entering the inside of the equipment.
Check whether the identification and warning signs of the equipment are clearly visible. If they are damaged or blurred, they should be re-posted so that the operators can correctly identify the parameters and precautions of the equipment.
⚪ Filter Maintenance
The chiller is usually equipped with a water flow filter for filtering impurities in the water. It is important to check the filter cartridge periodically to observe if it is clogged or damaged.
If the filter element is clogged, it will result in poor water flow and affect the cooling effect of the chiller. In general, it is recommended to check the filter every 1 – 2 weeks and clean or replace the cartridge regularly according to actual usage and water quality.

Refrigerant check
Check whether the refrigerant pressure is within the normal range. Too high or too low refrigerant pressure may affect the performance of the chiller.
Regularly check the refrigerant level to ensure that the refrigerant is sufficient. If the refrigerant is insufficient, it may cause a drop in cooling power.
Also, check the refrigerant piping for signs of leakage, such as oil stains on the piping connections (refrigerant leaks will carry refrigeration oil seeping out), and any leaks found should be repaired promptly.
⚪ Operating Parameter Monitoring
Regularly record the operating parameters of the chiller, such as inlet and outlet water temperature, pressure, current and voltage. Under normal circumstances, the inlet and outlet water temperatures should be in line with the design requirements of the equipment. Generally, the outlet water temperature of the chiller is lower than the inlet water temperature by about 5 – 10℃, depending on the equipment model and setting value.
The current and voltage should be within the rated range, if there are abnormal fluctuations, it may be the failure of the internal components of the equipment or external power supply problems, it should be promptly investigated.

Equipment Cleaning
Clean the condenser and evaporator of the chiller regularly. The fins of the condenser and evaporator are prone to accumulate dust, dirt and other impurities, which can reduce heat exchange efficiency.
Dust can be cleaned from the fins using a soft bristle brush or compressed air. For dirtier cases, special cleaners can be used, but care should be taken not to damage the fins.
The cleaning cycle is generally every 3 – 6 months, depending on the operating environment and frequency of use of the equipment.
⚪ Electrical system check
Regularly check the electrical control system of the chiller, including whether the electrical connections are firm, whether the contactors and relays are working properly, and whether there is any damage to the control wiring.
Check the insulation resistance of the motor to ensure that the motor windings are well insulated. Generally the insulation resistance should not be less than the specified value, such as 1 megohm or more. If the insulation resistance decreases, it may cause the motor to leak or burn out.
For chillers with a control system, check whether the display and keys of the control system are normal and whether the control program is executed correctly.
