There’s a reason why large facilities almost always use water cooled chillers. It’s not about complexity or first cost—it’s about efficiency. A well-designed water cooled industrial chiller can use significantly less electricity than an air cooled unit doing the same job. Over years of operation, that difference adds up to real money. Having looked at

Walk into any large factory or commercial building with a central cooling plant, and chances are there’s a water cooled chiller somewhere in the mechanical room. They’re big, they’re heavy, and they hum along for decades with proper care. But how exactly do they work? And why choose water cooling over air cooling? Having spent

Installing an industrial air chiller looks straightforward on paper. Set it on a pad, connect power and piping, turn it on. In reality, there’s a lot that can go sideways between delivery and startup. Seen it happen more than once—a chiller that works fine in the factory but struggles in its actual location because of

There’s a certain appeal to air cooled chillers. No cooling tower, no condenser water pumps, no make-up water system. Just fans and coils. That simplicity is why so many facilities end up with them. But picking the right one? That’s not as simple as grabbing the first unit that matches the tonnage. Having watched a

There comes a point with almost every industrial chiller where keeping it running starts to feel like a losing battle. Not a sudden failure necessarily—more like a slow creep. Repairs come more frequently. The electric bill keeps climbing. Parts take longer to arrive. And somewhere in the back of someone’s mind, the question starts forming:
